Video Message from Our Chairman, President and CEO Jeff Keebler
In early 2022, MGE Energy’s regulated utility, Madison Gas and Electric (MGE), announced a goal to reduce carbon emissions at least 80% by 2030 as it works toward net-zero carbon by mid-century. To achieve deep carbon reductions, MGE is growing its use of renewable energy and continuing its ongoing transition away from coal.
In the last year, MGE announced the planned early retirement of the Columbia Energy Center by 2025, about 15 years ahead of schedule. Investment in renewable generation will replace much of the capacity needed due to the early retirement of the Columbia plant. The company projects the addition of nearly 400 megawatts of wind, solar and battery storage between 2015 and 2024.
In this brief video with Chairman, President and CEO Jeff Keebler, hear about the company’s investments and strategies for achieving net-zero carbon electricity while building customer and shareholder value as your community energy company for the future.
